Vegan Ramen in L.A.

Los Angeles is a health conscious kind of town. We love drinking our kombucha and eating our salads when we can. But we can’t have salads all the time, sometimes we need to change it up a bit. When I visited the Grand Central Market I was really craving ramen. It was a chilly afternoon in Los Angeles and a nice broth with noodles sounded amazing for lunch. Yes, believe it or not the weather isnt always sunny in California. I came across a place named Ramen Hood and decided to give it a try. So I stand in line and get ready to put in my order when I realize it’s not your regular kind of ramen. The ramen they sell here is Vegan ramen. I haven’t had vegan ramen before and decided to have it for lunch.

The ramen doesn’t come with any surprises or things out of the ordinary. It’s a regular yummy bowl of ramen. The broth is made of sunflower seeds instead of pork. The bowl comes with noodles, bok choy, nori, king oyster mushrooms, bean sprouts, scallions and chile threads. You can also add a seasoned egg for an additional fee. The seasoned egg is very soft and doesn’t have the same texture as a regular egg. The taste is similar to a seasoned egg, I would have to say it’s about 85 percent there. The sunflower seed broth is great. When it comes to the noodles, they have different noodles customers can pick from. The chili threads give the broth a little kick.

If you want spicy ramen, they also serve spicy ramen.

Check it out, nothing beats a warm broth on a chilly foggy L.A. day.
