In the 1960s a husband and wife team immigrated from Cuba to the state of California. The only items they brought with them was the clothes on their backs. They left everything they had behind. In California they began a new life and after working hard they opened a bakery. Their names were Rosa Porto and Raul Porto, the Porto’s opened their first bakery in 1976 on Sunset Blvd in Echo Park, California. This was the start of a business that would grow and be very successful. Throughout the years the Porto’s opened bakeries throughout L.A. County and have opened one in Buena Park, Orange County. The bakery is busy day and night. The lines go outside of the bakery every day.

One of their signature pastries is their cheese rolls. The cheese roll is flaky, puffy and filled with sweet cheese cream. You can’t just have one cheese roll. They’re addicting.

Another one of their customers favorites is their guava cheese pastries. If you’ve never had guava you definitely need to try these. Guava is soo good! Their like little hand pies filled with yummy sweet guava jam and cheese filling.
Aside from pastries they have cuban sandwiches, cuban tamales, cuban coffee, fruit juices, empanadas, elegant and yummy cakes, and their famous potato balls. The potato balls are fried and are filled with ground meat and surrounded by yummy mashed potato.
